New York, NY – March 28th, 2011 – “Down This Road” directed by Vinz Feller to premier April 23rd , 7:00pm at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.
“Down This Road” is a tender melodrama about two lost souls: A pre-teenager (Brandon Ratcliff) seeks out his estranged dad (Paul Calderon) after fleeing his mother’s workplace with a wad of stolen bills. His dad becomes aware that reconnecting with his son and sharing their pain, is better than facing life alone, ultimately.
The short had its European premier earlier this year at the Solothurner Filmtage and won an award for Best Fiction at the 30th Black Maria Film Festival. This short was inspired by a feature film currently in development and due for release in 2012.
Vinz Feller by way of Europe is an accomplished director, having won several awards for his work including mentions from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures (NBR), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Swiss Department of Cultural Affairs. His previous work has been praised and screened at numerous film festivals, worldwide. He directs commercials and narrative films [both in Europe and the US], and is a partner at TWIN Productions [reputable commercial production company based in Europe].
Feller says of the short, “It’s about a tragic loss that one family experiences. It examines the results of grief and the pursuit of happiness. I believe in second chances, I believe in redemption, and I believe that we can learn to be better human beings even in the most difficult situations of our lives.”
“Vinz is one of the brightest, most talented guys on the block. I expect to see many more fine films from him in the years to come.” –Ron Bozman, Academy Award winning producer “Silence of the Lambs.”
“Simply, Vinz is a consummate artist, whose work is both poetic and raw.” –Susan Batson, Producer “Raisin in The Sun.”
“Vinz has an astute visual sensibility and a unique inner voice he freely pulls from. All of his films are engrossing. I’m looking forward to seeing more from this talented filmmaker. –Victor Syrmis, Chairman Arclight Films.
If that isn’t enough, Feller recently won the Honolulu Film Award – www.honolulufilmawards.com/General/Awards/2011CompetitonWinners/tabid/435/Default.aspx.

New York, NY (Feb. 14th, 2011) – For Immediate Release – The Black Latina Corporation is proud to announce The Colors of Love premier at midtown’s illustrious Roy Arias Theater, March 4th – 6th.
Black Latina Corp. partners Crystal Roman and Apryl Lopez will grace the stage with their second off Broadway production, The Colors of Love, a romantic drama about four different couples confronting unique relationship obstacles.
Black Latina is dedicated to showcasing the diversity and beauty of the African American and Latino cultures through music, theater and film. Their new production will explore identity on cultural, individual and intimate fronts, the objective being to provide a bird’s eye view of how the relationship one has with themselves, is linked to intimacy and overall personal health (or lack-thereof).
The theatrical scenarios will portray issues which are prevalent in relationships, as well as topics widely considered taboo. These problems and solutions are written from the perspective of the “Black Latina” in America – a term coined by the partners in efforts to bring awareness to a cross section of Latinos, who recognize that the titles available to describe them racially do not fully support how they identify with themselves.
Roman [playwright] reflects, “As a young girl growing up, I never knew how to explain who I was. In a society that was and is so label-driven, how one conceptualizes who they are isn’t an easy task. I began to regard myself as a ‘Black Latina’ and after that, life seemed simpler. I am not the first Black Latina, nor will I be the last, but I do want my legacy to be that I took the initiative to identify with myself in a way that was honest and in a way that I was comfortable with. This isn’t just for me; I’m carrying the whole group on my back, who also identify in this way.”
“As a Black Latina, I have at one time or another, found myself in the shoes of each female character portrayed in TCOL. My experiences (some fueled by struggle, others by joy) have opened my eyes, closed doors that needed to be closed, and gave me the strength to begin new chapters so I might continue writing my own story. I hope to share these lessons and experiences with not only Black Latinas, but with couples and people of all ages and races, inspiring them to overcome their own struggles and continue writing their stories,” says Lopez.
The Colors of Love show and ticket information is available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/158093.

Feature appearances include Sheek Louch of D Block, DJ Thoro of Shady 45 and G-Unit Radio, M. Reck of Guttamuzic/Forbezdvd.com, Big Skeem, Trilogy, Sinsay, Spud Brooklyn, Catalyst, Twan da Dude – and many more are poised to grace this red carpet gathering at 8pm. The event will be streaming live at streetsd.com with host, First Lady Godiva.
The mission of Street Mos is the same as its always been: “We support artists, who are sincere about growing their careers, and Street Mos is sincere about growing the hip-hop lifestyle,” says Nat Nelson, C.E.O. of Streets Mos Entertainment.
Streets Mos Magazine [subsidiary of SM Ent.] has been quiet over the past year, but their silence ends on April 24th. Nelson says of the hiatus, “We have been planning our next move. We continue to be an entertainment magnet, and we keep the brand strong by fostering our partnerships throughout the country.”
As with any publication, Streets Mos Magazine remains to be a work in progress. While the Internet continues to change the print world forever, Nelson is holding firm to his belief in the power that his nationally-distributed publication can bring to artists and hip-hop as a whole. He refuses to fold like many of his magazine’s predecessors, e.g. Scratch and KING. However, Nelson has given his brand a web presence with Streetsmosdigital.com and says, “The industry is changing and it’s important for anyone, who wants to keep up with the industry to evolve with the changes.”
Street Mos – born in Harlem – returns to Harlem, annually, to showcase the hottest talent in the streets and provide opportunities for artist exposure. Their showcases have catapulted many notables to the forefront: Maino, Nicki Minaj, French Montana and Lexx911 are a few examples of artists, who got their first looks from Street Mos. Their showcases will continue to break new talent.
Nelson says, “Just know, we in the streets, the most.”

California-based rockstress, Emily Ellis, held her first U.S. album listening party at a jam-packed La Pomme nightclub in New York March 5th, 2010. Ellis, also known as “Valentine” released her album Today It Begins on iTunes through Japanese indie label, Spinning Inc./Grizz Rhythms. The rising rocker is currently considering U.S. record label offers.
National audiences appreciate Ellis’s explosive stage shows as seen on her Warped and Taste of Chaos tours. She and her band are gaining substantial notoriety as a “Band to Watch For” in 2010 with recent press in Japan’s Burn Magazine for song “All Or Nothing” voted among the top-ten best of 2009, and in the Rolling Stones’ “Hottest New Band” section.
Ellis is one of few contemporary artists that integrate hip-hop with her rock platform, as seen with the Beastie Boys, Jay Z and Linkin Park. Ellis says, “I don’t believe that one genre is more dominant than the other; they are both so rhythmic and heavy, and the crowd loves to hear them, together.”
Ellis began working with industry-renowned hip-hop producer, BpZy [bee-peezy], when a track originally created for Lil Wayne’s project [2009], was shelved by Universal Records due to the artist’s growing legal controversy. The track was then re-distributed to Ellis by manager, Kim Williams [owner, artist manager / Onevakynd Management Consulting, LLC (O.M.C, LLC.)], and she and her band created a rock version of the track, to be featured on BpZy’s upcoming project.
In his former days, BpZy was a member of the Beatminerz and later produced records for Black Moon, Smiff ‘n Wessun, Nas, Naughty By Nature, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Consequence, AZ and Amil to name a few. With label imprint underway, Divine Order Entertainment, BpZy enjoys the autonomy of exploring other genres with his music. He says of his relationship with Ellis, “I come from the ‘digging in the crates’ era and have a broad foundation of musical interest that helps me appreciate all genres.”
At the helm of this rock-hop collaboration is Kim Williams, who says, “When I deal with an artist, I like to get to know them personally. I know Emily’s writing and her musical style. I also know that she really digs hip-hop. I thought it would be cool to bring both elements together; it’s something that hasn’t really been tapped into as of yet. I wanted to pursue this, along with her straight-ahead rock and roll sound.”
Williams is poised to bring similar collaborations to the forefront this year, and says of the evolution of music: “People, who don’t think outside the box stay in the box.”
