Actress Daniele Watts, made famous by the feature film, “Django Unchained,” merely refused to show her identification card to the Los Angeles police last week. Sounds simple enough, but it wasn’t.
After receiving a complaint of a public “sexual act,” an officer caught Watts and her boyfriend, Brian James Lucas, a celebrity chef, intimately kissing outside of a production studio; both were fully clothed.
Once the officer in question didn’t get what he wanted, he abruptly handcuffed Watts, as she carried on about how she was being treated unfairly for a crime she hadn’t committed. This was a mere race issue.
Watts asked the police officer, “Do you know how many times the cops have been called just for being black?”
After several minutes of banter and Watts standing up for what’s right, the officer threw her into the police car, hurting her wrist in the process.
Lucas eventually showed Watts’ identification to the police. No charges had been made, but the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that an internal investigation is in order.
