This coming January, Courtney Love (lead singer of Hole-turned-solo-artist) will be performing in the pop opera “Kansas City Choir Boy.”
The show, according to the New York Times, will see a short 10-show run in New York’s Prototype: Opera/Theater/Now Festival. Love’s roll has not been cast, but it will be a lead. Sources say she is set to, however, play opposite of Todd Almond.
Other reports quote Love saying, “I love the concept and I’m loving the music. I’m playing it constantly. I’m looking to do things that are different.” The former ’90s rock queen sure has been anything but ordinary since she hit the scene almost 20 years ago.
Almond, who is ready to perform with Love, said of her, “I’ve always been fascinated by her. I love her voice and I think she’s a great actress.” Almond also said that this production is not a traditional opera; it’s a culmination of songs that tell a story.
We hope that Love doesn’t disappoint, because, well, she’s been entertaining us for many decades. “Kansas City Choir Boy” will be performed January 8-17, 2015.
