Nicki Minaj, 31, has apologized in the wake of accusations made that she used Nazi symbolism in “Only” video, released this passed weekend.
The rapper insists she didn’t “come up with the concept” for “Only” – and claims the video was inspired by cartoons.
Minaj tweeted today (11.11.14): “The artist who made the lyric video for ‘Only’ was influenced by a cartoon on Cartoon Network called ‘Metalocalypse’ & ‘Sin City’.
“Both the producer, & person in charge of over seeing the lyric video (one of my best friends & videographer: A. Loucas), happen to be Jewish
“I didn’t come up w/the concept, but I’m very sorry & take full responsibility if it has offended anyone. I’d never condone Nazism in my art (sic).”
Minaj, who recently split from her boyfriend of 14 years, Safaree Samuels, is also dating the videographer, Alex.
When asked if she wanted to respond to accusations that her video is anti-Semitic by gossip website TMZ.com, she replied, “No, this is my new Jewish boyfriend Alex. why the f**k would I do that. We did this together.”
