Beyonce, Jay Z and Timbaland are the subjects of recent theft accusations by a foreign singer. A lawsuit is surfacing in connection to the 2013 “Drunk In Love” chart-topper.
Mitsou recorded Roma Folk song, “Bajba, Bajba Pelem” back in 1995, and says she never gave anyone permission to take from her song for the first 13 seconds of “Drunk in Love.”
Mitsou said her song was about hopelessness and that Bey’s sexually-charged rendition, which borrowed from foreign eroticism, was a misrepresentation of Mitsou’s intentions for the original record.
The singer is seeking compensation for damages, and is requesting that the judge prohibit anyone from playing the song until she’s properly compensated, or until the record is removed from stores.
