Nicki Minaj and D’Angelo head this week’s list of releases.
“The Pinkprint” is Nicki Minaj’s third album since her 2010 “Pink Friday” and 2012’s “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.”
Beyoncé, Jessie Ware, Meek Mill and Jeremih among others, are featured collaborations on the new project. It features the singles “Anaconda” and “Only,” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown.
This album was originally slated for release on November 24, but was postponed due to the controversy of the “Only” official video, directed by Jeffrey Osborne (which used Nazi-themed imagery).
Simultaneously, D’Angelo releases his first album “Black Messiah” since the release of “Voodoo’ in 2001. He announced his plans for The Second Coming Tour; upcoming dates are Birmingham Academy (February 17), Manchester Apollo (18) and London Apollo (20), with his band The Vanguard, which is comprised of bassist Pino Palladino, guitarists Jesse Johnson and Isaiah Sharkey, keyboardist Cleo “Pookie” Sample, and John Blackwell on drums.
There are also new records from Ghostface Killah with collaboration between Malcolm Middleton and the David Shrigley.
