The popular “Lip Sync Battle” sketch on Jimmy Fallon‘s Tonight Show is about to get its own show this spring on Spike TV as a competition series. Creators Stephen Merchant, John Krasinski and Jimmy Fallon have recruited LL Cool J to host the show.
Filming will begin in New York this month and the competition will officially kick off on April 2nd.
LL said of the collab in a recent press release, “Like the rest of the world, I’m a big fan of these battles, but this show is going to bring it to a whole new level. I’m thrilled to be working with the entire team to host the show and can’t wait for the fans at home to join in!”
Viacom executive Casey Patterson said, “Lip sync battling is one of the coolest things happening in pop culture right now and already has a huge fan base – thanks to the amazing talent involved.”
Saturday Night Live aficionado Beth McCarthy-Miller will serve as director on the show.
