The crowd rapped along with Kendrick Lamar while he performed material off debut album, Good Kid M.A.A.D City as well as To Pimp a Butterfly.
Big Sean performed some solo hits and later joined Meek Mill, who brought out girlfriend Nicki Minaj, and Future.
The best was saved for last, with June Gemini and Jersey’s own Fetti Wap closing the show – happy belated birthday Fetti!
Said Emmis Communications’ General Manager, Deon Livingston (Hot 97): “Each year I’m blown away by the incredible talent that hits the stage, as well as the immense response we get from our audience. This year, due to strong demand for tickets, the show sold out in the early evening. When fans realized tickets were no longer available at the box office, a small number of individuals created an unsafe environment. The New Jersey State Police took steps to ensure the safety of concertgoers and our employees, which is always our top priority.”
More than 60 people were arrested following chaos that broke out as result of people trying to illegally make their way into MetLife Stadium. People tried to climb the gates, bottles were thrown at police, who blocked the entrance and riot gear-clad police used tear gas to subdue the crowd.
