Birdman has been unusually outspoken this week. He made news first with hurling a drink at Lil Wayne on stage, then dissed Tyga’s struggle album, and then launched a $50 million lawsuit against Jay Z and “struggling” Tidal music streaming company.
The Cash Money founder brought the suit against Tidal for releasing Lil Wayne’s Free Weezy album for $50M.
While Tidal rebutted the claim, stating Cash Money does not have the exclusive rights to the music, Birdman presented Cash Money’s contract with Lil Wayne, which distinctly states Wayne doesn’t have the authority to license his music to anyone else, according to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ.
Birdman additionally said that Tidal was an “illegal intermeddler” and Wayne’s “FWA” album received “tepid reviews” at best, and could hurt Cash Money’s attempts to exploit Wayne’s music.
