Despite having landed five Grammy nominations on Monday, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” was mysteriously absent from the nomination roster.
The song scored the highest on the charts and came in at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, so why is there no mention of it at the Grammys?
According to music-news site HitsDailyDouble, it wasn’t that “Hotline Bling” wasn’t widely appreciated. It was a simple clerical error on the part of label, Cash Money, which plumb forgot to submit it.
Although “Hotline Bling” was not submitted, Drake still raked in nominations for “Back to Back” and “Energy,” as well as Nicki Minaj’s “Truffle Butter” and “Only” (which he’s featured on). His album “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” was also nominated for Best Rap Album.
So, you win some, you lose some, (even though he surely would have achieved a great deal, had someone at the label not made an error!)
