Twitter introduces “360 Degree Live Streaming” to fall in step with other social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
Currently, anyone on Twitter and Periscope can watch 360 Degree Streaming, authored by Alessandro Sabatelli, the company’s director of AR and VR.
It’s still in the beta phase and available to a limited number of people/partners to assess and improve on the quirks. People looking for new tech toys to play with are expected to try out the service, which would help growth for Twitter, currently surpassed by Facebook, which has three million users.
The streaming service requires an external camera to be plugged into the phone and allows users to get a full view of the broadcaster’s surroundings.
360 Degree Streaming will be a nice shift of events for Twitter, which has had a challenging year fighting acquisition, which didn’t materialize.
